Our Policy On Moving And Assisting

You know that while you are a user of our services provide by Care To Assist we are responsible for your care and support, but did you realise that we have a responsibility to ensure not only your safety but the staff as well?

Many care workers have to leave their jobs every year because of back
injuries and we know you will share our concern about this. One of the ways that you can help us fulfil this responsibility is by helping us to avoid situations where care workers may injure themselves by moving you or any other items.

We will carry out a Risk Assessment covering all your support needs and
thereafter you will be shown how to move yourself – for example, how to
transfer into a chair without requiring more than supervision, if it is assessed you are able to do so. Remember doing as much for yourself as is safely possible, can maintain and promote independence.

Don’t worry, we won’t ask you to do more than you are capable of, and we may use a hoist to move you. We would appreciate if you could help us by assisting as much as you can and doing exactly as asked.
