Administration Of Medication

As you may know, Care To Assist works towards a policy that enables you to administer your medication independently.

In specific cases however, this is not always possible. On these occasions an identified member of staff is responsible for providing any necessary assistance. On these occasions the following guidelines must be adhered to in order to prevent any incorrect administration of medication. Failure to comply with these guidelines will prevent members
of staff from providing necessary assistance.

What you need to do: -

a) All medication should be contained in a sealed bottle or container with the relevant medication dosage and administration time labeled on it.

b) A Health Board Professional should prescribe all medication and any
non-prescribed medication should be identified with administration
guidelines/reason for use, written down by the customers or their
representative.
